I should have checked here first.... I just made a commitment for that weekend. I volunteered to lead a ride for the Centex VRA (Central Texas Vulcan Riders Association). BTW, for those that remember my flying Saddlebag covers, I replaced the bags so as not to embarrass myself two rides in a row, but as life is sometimes, I have to sell Sancha, but if it's allowed, would still like to ride with y'all when I can, but I'll be on a Kawasaki Nomad instead..... I will still have the project bike, but not going to make a trike out of her, just restore and rebuild as needed."DuctTape"

Who can ride with the TeXSives
Hey Duct Tape!
No worries, mate! You can ride with us anytime. Its not so much about the rig, but the ride, the friends and the FUN! Of course, nothing is as fun to ride as an XS11!
Thanks again for the rack. It fit perfectly and SWMBO and I can now go on overnights comfortably! She may even ride with us in October!

WOW - What a ride!

Skippy344,
I will be in your neck of the woods again with a different riding group on the 5th of August. So far it looks like we will be going to the Texas Roadhouse (?) in College Station that weekend. I'll be on the Nomad though. By then "Sancha" will be sold and "Next" won't be on the road yet.
Also, I found the backrest that goes with that rack!, I'll bring it to College Station on the 5th. It needs to have the pad re-covered, but the price is right! Just pick it up when I am there (not even shipping!)Last edited by remccool; 07-09-2006, 09:24 AM."DuctTape"

I noticed the comments on the speed bumps, a couple of weeks ago I was riding back from Luckenbach and almost hit a deer, he/she was less than 6 inches from my handlebar when I rounded the curve and shot past at it at 60 mph. Actually there where more deer than I could count, but most at least moved to the side of the road when they heard the horn. I always wondered why those bike horns had such an annoying sound to them, now I know, it's to scare deer off the road! That whole area is filled with them and at night and they all seem to like the road! Anyone riding after dark, remember to look for those glowing eyes, they really do stare at your headlights!"DuctTape"

I don't see my self making any long rides in the near, or distant future, because of lingering effects of last years accident. I can't ride more than 80-100 miles without being VERY uncomfortable. Last month, SWMBO and I took a 160 mile ride, and I was sore as hell, and my seat is in near new condition. About one tank of gas' range is about all I got in me. Even Davis, Ok/Turner Falls is over 240 miles round trip, and I wouldn't dare try to make that ride right now.

Just load the bike up on a truck or trailer and drive down... ride when you get here. We can all go knock on Maximan's door.... with this heat, I doubt he would open it though.. lol.
I am starting to have a little more faith in my XJ... been running several hundred miles and 2 weeks straight now... lol. WOO HOO! I may try to make this Hill country rally myself. Anyone wanting to make their bike look REALLY good... ride next to mine!
Hope you get to feeling better John.
