Just a note to let anyone interested know that on the 11, 12, 13th of September, a group of us will be at the Detroit Lake campground. We are planning a ride for there, but it is unsettled as to where. Look at the thread called XS riders in the Pacific NW for details. I don't know how hard it will be to get reservations now, but i think it should not be hard at that time.

Cool
I think I can make this. The XS is 90% repaired, about the same a me. I can take my riding pants to the sewing lady and have them all fixed up by then. Vyger will have some scares and I will have to dig out my old Shoei. The bike and I should be good to go.
I will be back in the classroom by then, so the a earliest I can get out of town is probably 4:00pm. Jeremy, are you going down Friday, or Saturday morning (looking for a place to stay fro the night)?
I can make it to Detroit, but would not get in until dark.
Jason R. and I will be coming down together.DZ

How many are coming in Friday night? I am the only one in my site, so there is some room there.1980 XS1100LG Midnight

Another thought: Has someone got a number to call in case we get in trouble, and won't make it. Don't want to buy trouble, just being prepared. My cell is 360-907-4273. I will be leaving Vanvouver, WA. around probably noon or so. If there is anyone going up Friday that wants to meet up around Salem, let me know when and where.

It looks like they keep track of the number of people and vehicles in the sites that are reserved. It may end up costing almost as much to stay with someone else as it does to reserve another campsite. The sites that are still available are C19, C28, C29 and C30. You can call 1-800-452-5687 Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Or you can reserve a site anytime at the following link. If you made reservations on-line you should have a printout confirming them, that will make the check-in quicker.

I will send everyone a PM with my phone number, anyone that wants to exchange numbers can reply with theirs.
According to my records I show Skip there on Thursday the 10th in C6. Bob in C24, Ron in C22, Scott in C23, Terry and possibly Tony in C25 on Friday. On Saturday I have myself in C26 (I will be arriving around 8:30am) and Tony in C21. I also show Larry (Lvrsnr) is riding down just for the day on Saturday.
Have I missed anyone?
Denny and Jason, It will be great to have you there, when ever you can make it.
See you all there,

As far as vehicles in sites, i called and they told me that The two vehicles are allowed. They count the tires, so you could have 4 bikes, or a car and two bikes. You just need to register all the vehicles that will be parked at the site. By the way, i am not trucking the bike down, i am putting all i need on the bike. Need to learn how to do this before some extended trip next year. I'll see how it works. If i forget something, there are stores close.1980 XS1100LG Midnight

It's been many years ago, but I was able to get everything I needed on a bike then and I'm sure I can do it again. Might take a few times though to get it tied down right.
I am counting on the stores having some of the stuff I need.

Denny, You are welcome to stay with me on Friday night and we can head out early on Saturday. I will go on line and check in to getting a site for us to share. Send me your email address to jlsells@gmail.com.
I would love to organize a ride up to Dee Wright Observatory on the old Mckenzie Pass. Either Saturday or Sunday, with a lunch stop in Sisters, OR. The loop would be about 150 miles and would provide a lot of nice scenery. Looking forward to it.Jeremy

I-5 or I-97?
Help! I've never been off the I-5 through Oregon!
Google Maps wants me to take I-97 and insists it's slightly shorter mileage and less time. I don't entirely trust the time estimate because it looks like I-97 runs at elevation through the mountains.
Coming up from California should I take I-5 through Medford and up to Albany or go inland on I-97 through Klamath Falls and up to Bend?
Regards,
