  • Anybody want to go to Laguna Seca

I kinda wanted to throw this out as a potential ride/gathering for those of us out here on the west coast. My brother is a pit crew mechanic and will be in Laguna Seca from July 11-13 for the International Superbike Championship and I will be riding down to see him and watch the race that weekend. You can camp, with your bike, at the track for $30 dollars a night and a 3-day general admission pass runs $70. I would like to leave Portland around Wednesday the 9th and stay overnight somewhere in Northern Cal. on the coast and then be at Laguna by Thursday afternoon on the 10th. I would probably leave Monday the 14th and head back north with maybe a run through wine country or something. It would be great to get a bunch of us together for this and represent the XS. I have never been to this event but my brother was there last year and from his description it sounds most impressive. It is the only race on the West where you can check out all the european riders and and their amazing factory teams. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 7th at 8:00 am for advanced purchase and can be purchased at the gate for about $10 dollars more. Check out this link for more info:

Jeremy, That sounds fun. I ride an '80 Special, and a buddy of mine has a 650 Maxim. We were looking for some type of ride this summer to hook-up with some people from the group.
I will watch for future posts to see if there is more interest.

I have the dates on my calendar.

I am thinking I will ride down with you guys, spend a day in the area, head east to Reno, north to Kfalls, and up 97.

      Should be a great ride.

I'm sorta embarrassed to ask this, but where exactly IS Laguna-Seca?

I'm relatively close to Sears Point, I'm in Modesto, on Hwy 99 and 15 miles east of I-5.

Anyone passing thru the area is welcome at my house (hot tub and pool). LoHo is 100 miles south of me so there's a few XSives around here.

Anyway I can help (hoping to go too) just let me know.

Pat, Laguna is down by Monterey, big parties downtown during the races! Last year was the first international bike race that I attended and had a blast (regardless of the Citybike article).

Dennyz, I have driven the car around Tahoe and keep telling myself that I have to get a bike out your way. I did a Yosemite tour last year, loved it, but could do without all of that traffic. I hope that we have the opportunity to discuss some routes out your way.

It will be difficult to get a hotel room (or camping reservation?) as the dates get closer, try to make reservations at least 30 days in advance. I know that some of the hotels as far away as Salinas (on the cheap side) were booked-up.

Thanks to all for the information. I'll keep an eye out for the XSives at the races. I am not sure which bike I'll be on but I'll let you guys know when it gets close to show time.
Good is not cheap, cheap is not good.
