I've booked kampfires, it's only five minutes down the street.there is also a KOA near by I've stayed there before it's small but nice.

Dwayne and Darrell’s Most Excellent Adventure

Dwayne and I spent 2-4 Apr checking out Brattleboro, VT going I-95 to CN-15 to I-91 on a damp and cold day. We checked in the Colonial Motel and Spa for our stay. It was rather dated but our room was large. We went over some of the prospective routes I laid out. Dwayne texted Randy Rago who ran the 2009 rally and suggested VT-100. We decided to make that the focus of our next day’s run.

The Colonial provides a basic continental breakfast but besides fast food I saw no other breakfast places nearby. It was raining and in the 30s. Driving west on VT-9 there are several cheap gas stations, $3.77 at the time. We continued west to Wilmington to pick up VT-100 northbound. A mile up the road we stopped at the Cup N Saucer for breakfast. It has just one big oval, but the Hungry Man’s breakfast was good.

We continued north on VT-100 with a stop in Weston, VT, at The Vermont Country Store and Mildred’s Dairy Bar. That was quite an establishment. At Ludlow we turned left on VT-103 for Rutland. There is a fair amount of traffic there but good timing for lunch with a variety of restaurants and gas stations. Southside Steakhouse offers pub burgers, Vermont Tap House another.

East on VT-4 past Killington; folks were still skiing. We stopped at Billings Farm & Museum, a National Historic Site. Then south on VT-106 to Springfield, west on VT-11 to Chester, south on Grafton Road to Townshend, then south on VT-30 back to the Colonial.
I’ll have to finesse the route as I didn’t see many gas stations. This route as described is 192 miles, 4 ½ hours without stops.

Back in Brattleboro, across the street is a Hannaford market with a Vermont Liquor store where a bottle of Jefferson bourbon was purchased and later consumed. We had dinner at 99 Restaurants which seems to be one of the better options. The eatery at Colonial is the Saffron that serves Middle Eastern cuisine, not my next choice.

On checkout I reserved 5 rooms under my name, Darrell Newcomb, and arranged for the rooms to be on the first floor facing the north side parking lot in the newer building, not the horseshoe we stayed at last time. Rates will be $132-148 for a double queen depending on the day.
Now, I have to detail the two routes. The other will be west on VT-9 to Bennington with a return on MA-2.

        White stuff
