    Yes Indeed ........
Being a US219 junkie, on a few occasions I have stayed over a couple of nights in Frostburg MD then ridden day loops like Cheat River into PA out of Parsons WVa then next day local back roads in Westernport MD into WVa etc. Berlin - Confluence PA area too very nice with obscure great backroads. I agree, many-many great motorcycle road options within 100 a mile radius of Frostburg (western MD) in MD, WVa, PA. Great scenery, mostly smooth pavement and the all important Plenty O' Curves. (just don't try and outrun a Coal Truck, they really rip!! I learned the hard way after passing one. I think their moto is: "I don't need no stinkin' brakes") Really skilled drivers .......

I was thinking Wellsboro PA would be worth a revisit -only XSEast I missed. Looks like fairly good roads in the area, not a lot of traffic. I may go up and scout some after football season.

DC area is too congested and too many LEOs for any xssive riding. West of I-81 or south of I-64 is pretty good. Not too smart on Lynchburg area but I hosted the 2011 out of Lexington VA.

Just got back from the FJR ride this past weekend down in Maggie Valley NC, near the XSsouth site. Almost kissed a guardrail on GA-28. So be careful down there.

There is a great mc friendly Motel right in town with a 5 min walk to restaurants and the like...while the roads are not as twisty around there...its still some grat riding and scenery...and any road that has a 4 in its route designation is worthy of riding...the ride up to Hyder View point is also pretty cool. Traffic is just abt non-existant. never been there with the XS group either.

I've ridden around Frostburg, MD, Parsons, WV, ridden the Crooked Rd. AND stayed a night at Breaks Interstate Park.
Soooo, if scouting is needed, the Scout may have some feedback already about previous rides. 'Just trying to help out -----

              Dates?

Isn't XS East usually about the end of May?

Memorial day is Monday the 26th.
So, how about the Sat/Sun 24th/25th?

That way those that have to ride home can do so on a holiday and not burn up another day of work.
Hi, my name is George & I'm a twisty addict!

Somebody on here must be familiar with it.

                    Yes!
My vote for XSeast is for some place north of this crooked road Marty writes of. (I think we should ride it again to see where it might score in the top 10 alltime best...

Hi Brent If it is good enough for you I vote for it too
In the same vicinity is Hwy 16 from Tazwell to Marion.
Compared to North Carolina it is almost in my back yard
Seriously though this is a very central ( North South) location and would be a reasonable distance for many.

Just an added suggestion, although the Crooked Road sounds fine.

I really liked heading west from the Cowshed XSEast in 06. It was my first motorcycle gathering. Very memorable because of that alone, but I also think it was VERY interesting riding. So I'm thinking Pineville WV and westward. Namely Eastern Kentucky, Cumberland, Daniel Boone Nat Forest area.
                        Too far for an XSEast?

                            Getting down to the wire

We should make reservations soon, so lets hear a few comments on some possible locations. If no one else steps up I will take it on again, no problem.

Wellsboro (north / middle PA)? - I have some ideas for this area, nice rural area with some curves, no twisty roads, but long runs of no intersections, and I know where we can go fast.... Canyon Motel has 30 rooms, not too many taken as of today. Other locations to HQ from and still stay in this area are Lock Haven and Clearfield, better motel availability, little harder to keep the group together as we leave the urban parts.

Frostburg, I have no information yet on this area, although its proximity to WV lends itself at least to some curvy roads. Being it is a small state we would likely be in PA and WV anyway, that area not too twisty though. Guessing in that neighborhood motels and restaurants could be pricey also.

Southern WV (Pineville / Beckley area) twisty roads forever, lunch stops could be problematic depending upon routing, but perhaps too far south for some?

SO OH again? Technically outside of our "Northeast" area. Athens area for HQ, good twisty roads, and I know a good lunch spot....

NY State? I know a couple of nice roads but most of the good roads in NYS are few and far between, and the in-between roads suck.

We could also go back to an area we visited before. We can find other routes or run the original ones backwards, like, say, Elkins, WV.

If we want real all day twisty roads then WV and VA are the target, if we don't mind just group riding then most anywhere is good.

Any other ideas, comments? Lets hear them, decision should be made within the next week or two.
