I know some great roads in the Adirondaks, but we will likely be there in 2014
Note the Grangers have indicated they might host another NY state rally in 2014.
If the group wants to go there twice in a row that's fine but I was thinking someplace else for 2013.
Just a thought, if we consider a place we have been years before consider that there will be new members along who may not have been there, and we can make different routes on roads we didn't ride the first time.

Adirondaks sounds interesting. Previous visits to NY , that I recall were Alexandria Bay and Pulasky ( that is Pula-Sky despite what you might think How about the Catskills if we are trolling for locations in New York

Hi Joe,
While many XSives, some of them are quite knowledgeable, are perhaps interested in history my experience on XS rallies is that they want to RIDE and visit gas stations. Atleast that is my impression.
Sometimes we manage a group photo with most of the attendees but mostly it is "Herding Cats" for the organizer.

PS XSEast is so much fun I keep going back ( to be a cat )

May I add that a more rural setting is preferred to urban sprawl areas. People I know when speaking about DC and usually use the word 'distance' in the same sentence... Well, they use other choice words about DC also, but 'distance' when speaking about transportation around it. Just sayin'.
Grangers have big plans for 2014, won't be the hosts for 2014.
We have some areas mentioned:
NY Adirondacks
Central PA
VA (big state, need to select some rural area)
I'll add SE OH / NE WV
SE OH and NE VA has twisty roads, fairly rural, and I know a good lunch spot.
PA would likely be the Wellsboro area, not too many twisty roads but nice rural setting. Motel availability would be a concern if we wait too long. I know most of the roads around there.
Adirondacks / Catskills a very few nice curvy roads, surfaces are questionable in a lot of areas. Tends to have expensive accommodations and restaurants.
Depending upon the area selected, this rally should be reminiscent of older rallies, as in FAST!
