Rain not allowed, mention of rain gives you the preventive rain dance mojo responsibility!!! Sacrificing large quantities of alcohol in a group environment is also required, at YOUR expense.

I have plenty of experience in that. I do it every weekend. Video's are $15 ea. and I take paypal.
I am checking out some area attractions now, along with accomodations. HWMBO is plotting routes.
If you all would like, I'd be willing to take on the responsibility of planning the weekend.
I am in the area, have(between HWMBO and I)almost 50 years of running the roads here, and I don't mind being responsible for seeing that all our needs are met.
It's up to all of you. I am volunteering for it, if you're willing I'll be more than happy to do the legwork.
Let me know if there are any special needs for anyone that is planning to come and I'll make certain the plans include those needs.
Average daytime temp in the area in May is 71F(22C, I think that's Canadian temp. Darn one way Americans!). Nights run around 47F(6C). Cool, yes, but the bikes will love it! I am trying to include a run over one of the covered bridges and some hilly, turny roads without alot of traffic. Should be fun. I will take a drive around the area in the near future and scope it out for us.
Details to follow...
Im sooo frigging happy, its like only 9 hrs run for me ill get to stay longer and get to meet some new ppls. Thank you Carolyn !!

47 years riding and still learning, does that make me a slow learner?
Yep. It's gonna be great!
One of the reasons I suggested that area is because it's sort of central for all the northern Northeasterners-Ontario, Nova Scotia, NY-Upstate, CT, etc.
It will be somewhere between Brattleboro and Keene. There is a route out of Keene that will take us over 3 of the 4 covered bridges in the area in one swoop. Very pretty. I'm checking on local hot spots too either as a point of interest or a spot to grab some lunch. There are some old style drive-ins, diners and such too. We can ride along the river, and up thru one of the state parks-hilly, twisty roads. The bikes will love it-cool temps, few cars, and windy blacktop!
I will be going up several times to get everything squared away. I'll post pix of everything and see what you all think. I've got plenty of time to really make this great. With all of your help, we're going to have a wonderful time!
Just a thought Carolyn, and I don't want to interfere with what ever plans you have or have made, but maybe you should consider a recon ride later in the fall. Maybe get a few XSives to scope out the area roads and attractions. You could could stop and talk to area motels and restaraunts and see which ones would be best for a bunch of bikers and if they would mind letting us use their facilties for a rally.
Again Just a thought.
Cheers,
Paul

I'm not a motorcycle mechanic but I play one on the internet.
This sounds pretty cool, thanks for taking the reins, Carolyn! Just some ideas to ponder, I hope you don't mind...
One rest stop of interest you might want to consider is Hemmings Motor News headquarters in Bennington, a little jaunt down VT-9 from the Brattleboro area. They have an antique car and motorcycle museum, as well as a fully-working old-time gas station, store, and cafe. Those who are interested in antique vehicles will get a kick out of this place, it's a unique place to take folks, and they have designated motorcycle parking with kickstand pads. Don't know if anyone here is interested in vehicles older than their XS, but usually there is.
The only issue would be VT-9. It seems like everytime I've ever cruised that road there was some section under construction. The last time it all seemed to be done, but you never know....otherwise, it's not a bad road for riding scenery-wise.
There is also a railroad museum in Bellows Falls that might be of interest. I have never been there, so I don't know much about it.
This should be a great time! It's hard to go wrong with any event in Vermont, outside of rain, hurricanes, or the once-every-150-year-record-freak-snowstorm on the exact weekend you plan!
Relax....don't worry about such things....it won't happen...everything will be juuuuust fine.....honest....
This would make a great destination for sure!Cool idea Bob ..Carolyn..Many suggestions will be forthcoming I am sure...Mine is to insure that the rides have gas stops frequent enough for those ppl with the Special gas tanks...not exactly sure what their range is...but for the XSEast rally gas was available every 70 miles or so...if I'm not mistaken...others could be more enlightening...as for places to see and stop at...I'll trust your judgement there.I know whatever you come upwitj will be good...I am already looking forward to this.
