I'm almost certain that I have the holes facing the right way. I better re-check since she's getting rubber tomorrow I do remember buying two extra set's of disc brake locks just in case though

I'll try to document the control swap process as much as possible. I'll be honest though, I'm not very good at electrical stuff. So far it seems like a pretty straight forward swap as all the wire colors match the XS11 wiring diagram exactly, though there is an extra black wire (ground) on the left control that I'll have to find a home for.

For polishing the cooling fins I've had good luck with first sanding them down with fine grit emery cloth on a flat sanding block. You'll know when your done when you can no longer see any machining grooves in the edge of the fin. After that I take a felt drum dremel attachment, load the drum with jeweler's rouge, and going to town. The fin edges look like chrome after this, but unfortunately it does take some time.

I went the other route...blue paint marker on the fin edges...took an hour and no rubbing!! LOL...actually it's a temp solution till I put her up for the winter. Gonna do an engine off cleanup, although I'd never afford to do THAT!! Those are some SWEET parts and I'd KILL for that look when you're done! I think they should chrome all parts over 25 yrs old for free as a matter of national aesthetics...

Gonna be nice AKMac, you've done a few things I wish I had known to do. Never thought of use mikexs parts. Like the switches and bar clamp.
Wetrock.... you can chrome, black chrome the rear wheel w/out removing the dampeners. You don't wanna take those out... probably can't without a really good hydraulic press. Powdercoating requires removal of them tho... for the oven. I've done it, but I needed a spare wheel cause I ruined 3 dampeners pressing them in and out. The other thing is they need to be set back in right on or the wheel might wobble, eat bearings, etc.
