This is a post I coppied from a different message board. Has anyone ever heard of XS1100 cranks breaking. this was news to me!
Is this a problem with Xs1100 or is this person off his rocker!!!
excess be careful with that bike. The cranks were known to break. It takes some hot-rodding around to do it. Two guys I work with both had XS11's, both broke the cranks. Different time spans of course. One guy's bike had a header on it, the other was basically stock. I've ridden them and they run strong. Not sure why the cranks break. Most likely small journals or something along that line. I don't think it's an oiling problem. Just ride it like a cruiser, don't turn it into a racer and you'll be fine. Cool looking paint work. If I had one, I'd still put a header on in and act like a bad ass but wouldn't treat it like a dirt bike if you know what I mean....
