  • Front wheel bearing question

I just received my replacement wheel bearings, and unlike the originals, these bearings have a shield on both sides. Should I remove one shield, or can I just install the bearing with both shields still intact?

Leave the shields on the bearings.

The shielded bearings should be prelubed.

        To avoid confusion...
The shielded bearings should be prelubed.
What John means is that the bearings are already lubed. Install them just the way they are.

Ok sounds good. I've never done wheel bearings before so forgive my ignorance, but since they are both prelubed, where if at all, should I pack some grease during installation?

I would just put a THIN coating on the outside and inside meatal bearing surfaces, and on the axle bolt. Don't forget the clean and regrease the speedo drive as well.
