  • Carb help, please!

OK, so I've been painting my carbs now for about a month. I've mixed up a couple of washers from the butterfly shafts. One of the washers is LARGE and hexogonal, looks like a big flat nut but it's keyed to fit the shaft under the locknut.

    My question is:

Which carb uses this washer? Hint: I know it's not the #1 carb, cause I've asssembled the rest and this washer doesn't work on #1, I've tried it and it leaves too much play in the shaft

Someone with a detailed Yamaha shop manual should be able to look this up?

    Thanks in advance.

If you’re talking about the nut on the end of the throttle shaft, on my SG, the two inner carbs (#2 & #3) have nuts. The outer carbs, #1 & #4 have a circlip over a washer that holds the shafts in place.

      Hey, Rick!

Yeah, some Specials have those circlips, but I've been looking at photos of the carbs on Ebay and it looks like the washer DOES go on carb#1, I just don't know how I've got so much slop on the side with the spring?

You know, the sooner I get this done, the sooner we can scoot around LV!
