Barnett seems to be a popular brand. Maybe slip an extra steel plate into the stack, if there is enough space. That seems to help slipping clutches, so it may help to lock up a new one even stronger.? I don't race, but after doing a big bore, I went with a brand called Factory, for my clutch. I replaced the springs also. I haven't had any slippage problems when twisting it up ( blowing the carbon out) every now and then.

      New Clutches, a Sticky Situation!?

I could have sworn that I had read where someone had used the Barnett clutch plates, but that they had a tendency to stick too much, and they had trouble disengaging the clutch!? This could make it a bit more difficult handling it on the street, slow corners and traffic where slipping the clutch is actually needed!?

Other brands are Vesrah, and EBC, don't know what the GENERIC ones on PartsNMore are? I got a set from JCW 5 years ago, but I abused them a bit with Xsive slipping in very hot weather! I'll be pulling them out to check their spec measurements, and I'll be slipping an extra Steel in the pack in any situation!

Bandet, try a search on here for Barnett Clutch and see what you find?

.. i have used the Barnett clutches before and they started slipping within 2000 miles, its been awhile since i have used them, they might be better by now but i won't go out of my way to use that brand anymore. now i use the EBC's, they seem to be holding up to the abuse pretty good. and if you're racing, the stiffer springs are a must and dont use the synthetic oils.. Bike Bandit sells them both and the price is pretty good = low. i think the price was less than $90 bucks shipped for both
.. not the last word, just one @ssholes opinion from expeirance

                bandit01,
I picked up the springs and plates from Bikebandit. I think the plates are Vesra, and the springs are "heavy duty". I ended up only installing the springs, as my plates were well within specs. I've put about 3K miles on the clutch, and just yesterday had the front end come up, and NOT trying too.
The heavy duty springs are the #1, and if you read through the old clutch thread, you'll find almost any clutch plate should be good. The Barnett Kevlar plates my be the best for drag racing, as they should grab once the start to warm up.
                Just my thoughts...

                      XStra steel

read several times about putting an extra steel plate in clutch.

                      Don't recall extra friction mentioned.

Where you guys putting the extra plate???

Not necessarily true... You ShOULD have a torque wrench, a 27mm socket, and if that big nut is anything like mine, a tourch and one hell of a breaker bar.

i think they just double stack a extra steel in there to take up space

                            Hey Mike,

The "tech tip" suggests placing it in the middle of the pack, just 2 steels next to each other, and then all of the other friction and steels alternated as usual!
