I have done a search on this, but I was wondering if anyone out there has replaced the seal on the right side of the case under the alternator without splitting the case. I have an XJ... but the motor is off of a 78 XS. I just got this bike back together and DO NOT want to go into it again at this point. I thought it might be the galley plug... but no such luck. I thought about buying a few of these seals and trying to just tap/ ease them in... can it be done? The extra money for the seals is MORE than worth it to me if it keeps me from splitting cases. I would rather go through 10 seals than have to tear this thing down again. I have done several axle seals, and tranny seals on vehicles... same type of thing it seems to me. What do you think?
