    "Squeegie me, baby"

First thing I did when my sons got cars was to buy each a little squeegie for their windows. Unlock the car, fire it up, and just do a quick walk around with the squeegie. I keep mine on the dash, as my truck leaks so much, I have more condensation on the inside, then dew on the outside!

      Aww, Prom, you're all WET!!

Yeah, I hate all of that dew on the windows. We got a couple of SUV's, and I don't know what's wrong with these newer vehicles, but I can roll the electric windows down and back up, and the seals on the windows DON'T wipe off the dew!

I have to push on the window to get it against the seal to squeegee the dew off!

Back on the subject of electrical power, found the stat of power output for the 79 alternator in the Fiche Service Data sheets,

      14V 20A @5krpm

So, was surprised to see those values posted in an earlier message about the actual measured power outputs at various rpms, showing up to 28amps! Just shows that we can't overload our systems with too many amp sucking extras without allowing for reduction of that draw effect by about the only way we have which is the LED conversions! The other big draw seems to be the Ignition system. Don't know if the aftermarket TCI's draw less or MORE than the OEM? LED's are a good start and option!

        "current" TCI's

        aftermarket TCI's ?

Will have to look for that.
        Didn't know they were available.
Need one for the MNS, but a used one would be "AMP"le.

          Better get "IT" at Ebay!

          Hey Mike,

          Here's a thread of interest:Hyperpak TCI thread

Also, doing a search for "aftermarket ignition" or such will get you many threads and discussions about this process!

A real CDI should draw significantly less. A Kettering ignition ( and the TCI is Kettering) draws current through the coil all the time except when its interrupted by the points or transistor. CDI charges up a capacitor and just dumps it through the coil when the plug needs to fire.

PO had installed a set on the crash bars (3" ovals, incidentally) and they are great. They fill in the black hole left up close to the bike by the Headlight. It also doesn't hurt to have the extra beams for the cagers to see. I have occasionally had to put the Battle Cruiser on the charger when I don't get enough open road run time, but very rarely. One of my projects is a dash for the inside of the fairing that has a voltmeter and a plug for a trickle charger set up, just to be safe.
