  • will MikesXS controls work

Does anyone know if the "Bar Switch Assembly" Part #24-2059 and Part #24-2060 sold by MikesXS will work for our XS11's? They look identical in the pictures, plus they are avaliable in chrome.

I've been told that the 650, 750, 850, 1100 and even the 400 all share the same controls. I'm redoing an 850 and plan on buying them. fyi, Jon

            Hey Switz,

If you'll do a search for chrome Goodness and AKMAC you should find his posts, and see his photos of his machine WITH the chrome controls mounted. They will mount, but I don't know what difference the electrical plugs have or what he may have had to do to swap wires in the plugs to get the controls to work!?

In short, yes they will work but your going to need to do some wiring to get them to work.

The right side controls were very easy. You just have to wire in connections then proceed to connect red to red, black to black, etc.

The left side took a while. Since I didn't have wiring diagrams of a XS650 I opted to wire single connectors to each wire. That way if I screwed up I could just reverse or swap wires. If you keep blowing a fuse for your headlight, you did something wrong It took me a while (and some fuses!) to figure out the mess but now everything works perfectly.

They are quality units and I would recommend them to anyone looking for some more bling

Yes. It can be done. I have the right installed now. It's cake.
The left, I have and have done plenty of research and it can be done as well, but it needs a bit more "help" hooking up. It's all a simple trace of what each color does in the controls vs. each color on your harness compared to your clymers. HTH. Let me know if you need more details. I can get the left controls figured out quick and take some pics if you need. Can take pics of the right side also if need be, but that one can be explained.

IIRC, the left side had the issue with not having a "hazard" switch on it. Dont know for certain, but when i purchased my new M/C for 'Sunshine, i asked Mike Lalonde ( THE dude at MikesXS) if it would fit. As others have stated, he seems to have a distaste for the 1100, but oh well.... he said they didnt have the hazard switch on the bottom, so the wiring will be a bit different. If 'Bobber' and others have figured it out, we can all 'patiently' wait for them to post photos and detailed instructions on how it works!!
I know that my controls will need to be replaced soon (cosmetic reasons only.....for now) and i myself would like to know how to do it also!!!! My $.02
