  • Anybody have a windshield bracket.

Anybody have a lose windshield mounting bracket for a 80 special laying around.

I picked up 2 free windshields yesterday, each of different shapes. I need to make the mounts for them, or find a cheap enough mount off another windshield.

    So my question lies in.....

Does somebody have one they can take a picture of for me so I have an idea how to build my own.

    or....

Does somebody have one lying around that they would be willing to part with without breaking my college wallet haha.

    Thanks.

Can you put up a pic, or describe the windshield mount that you need? I have some old universal mounts that I can part with.

John, I dont have another mount to go by, so I have no idea what they look like.

Straight windshield, nothing fancy about it.

Its not off a fairing, or for a fairing if thats what you are thinking.

This is the style for one of the windshields I got....

The other one is more round at the top and bottom, and has a hole cut out for the headlight. I cant seem to find a similar picture.

That pic looks like a National Cycle. Do a google for their web site and see if you can match it up.

That is where I got the pic from, but they dont have any mounts available. Thats just the style of one of the windshields I got.

One of my buddies works for a honda shop here in Nodak and they were throwing out a pile of windshields that they couldnt sell a couple of months back, he scored em and then I just found out about them. I recently took the Windjammer off my bike and now want to replace it with a windshield.

The pic that you posted is of a National Cycle Plexifairing III. I just bought one for my bike. I love it. According to the directions (I read them AFTER installing the 'shield) all of the mounts are available for replacement. Does the 'shield have these 'pockets' glued to it to accept the mounts? The cost of all the mounts is about $70 . That's half the cost of the windshield. If you can confirm that it is from Nat'nl Cycle, then I can send you the P/N for the mounts. They come sorted by 'bags' and you have to buy the whole bag of parts to get just one part that is contained in that bag.

Ill have to check when I get a chance. I dont think its a NC shield, just a look alike. To be honest I never looked them over real carefully, just a glance, and was going to look them over this weekend when I got back to my parents to my bike.

Ill get back to you guys on monday with some better info. Thanks for all the help so far, I appreciate it.

                  Hey Bauer,
I made the upper brackets for the windshield on my XJ. I needed to get it off the mirrors and one of the mounts was broken. My brackets work great, look factory, and are very steady.

Oh yea, they cost me less than $5 to make to. Always a Plus!

Here is a pic. If it is any help at all, let me know and I will give you the details.

That actually helps out alot. What did you use for materials to make the clamps and such?

The windshield I have is not a National Cycle brand, but is very similar in shape. It has rubber gromets just off each side of center on the shield for mounting. Ill try to get a pic taken and get it posted up.

                    Thanks.

Jimboreeno. if you have any closer pics of the brackets, could you email or PM them to me, also the lower brackets would be great.

John, It does appear to be VERY similar to the Plexifairing III. I did a couple of google searches and the pics that showed up seemed to be the same.

                        Jimbo. That'd be great. Thanks.

                          Hardware Replacement

I recently had some hardware fall off on the road from my Slipstreamer Turbo shield. I emailed them and they said no sweat, they've got replacements for their stuff. Wonder why National Cycle doesn't? Maybe cause their stuff doesn't fall off...at least mine hasn't.
