  • K & N Air Filter

Has anyone used the K & N air filter YA-1400, to replace their stock air filter? Just curious if it helped with performance. What was the cost? Called O'reilys and they have to send off for a price and filter will have to be special orderd. How does this compare to the pod filters.
    Thanks,

    Kevin

Mine was about $35. Not sure about more power but easy to clean (I run it through the dishwasher when SWMOBs not home) and won't have to replace it.

I replaced the filter in Daily Ride with a K&N. I like it because it is perminent, and easy to clean. I don't have a SWMBO, or a dishwasher, so I just use the sink and HOT water to clean.
I put the filter in while preping the bike, so I can't compare to the old filter. I do get about 38mpg on my commute, and that is at speeds up to 90mph.

I had one on my bike before I pulled the airbox. It plus the 4-1 blued my pipes, so you might go up a main jet size to compensate?

          Hi Kevin,

I put a K&N filter in my LG (same engine as your SG) the carbs had the original jets in and I run a 4 into 2 exhaust, I didn't have to rejet. Maybe I was lucky though.

The bike 'sounds faster' and I think it is but I couldn't prove it.

They work for me, I plan to fit put a K&N in my SG now.
