ok guys i asked this alittle while back and i kind of found a answer but then my dad said there is a filter and i need to find out if that is true or if what i want to try will work

my problem is the i have a 79 xs1100 and were the tank is resesed in it gets filled with water or overfilled fuel and it does not drain and when i got for a ride the over flow stuff flys up all over me and i need to find out if that drain in there where it drain to the bottom of the bike has a filter on that line or not and when i take it apart to paint can the line be blown out wioth air or how does it need to be done

The hole should be clear, with NO FILTER. I would just start with trying to run a wire through the tube. A 12Gauge copper wire will work, without going through the tube, unless it's badly rusted. The air compressor will also work, and if it's handy would make a good first try, IMHO.

        "Hey, you Hoser!"

Make sure that the hose that hooks to the fitting on the tank is clear (underneath the bike) and not plugged with crap.

Had that problem a few times myself...a low 'E' string off a guitar worked out great for me. Pull the plastic drain hose of the back of the tank (near the seat) and insert from there. It's easier that way-there's a kink near the top of the tank that's hard to pass. The texture of the guitar string will also help loosen any built up crud. My $.02
