    brake pads

    Looks like I need new ones soon. Will any do or do y'all have preferences?

    EBC brand is good but even the cheapest ones will work just fine. I use the cheapest ones with a shim to prevent squeaking. No guarantee the more expensive ones won't squeal.

      these are cheap..33 bucks

      I went to Yamaha today. They want $140 for aftermarket EBC and they need to order it.

          I’ve been using SBS ceramic pads on my XS11 for a long time. I buy them on eBay.

                      Mike's XS has the shims for $11.29 per caliper or for $30 you can get a set of four pads and two sets of shims.

                        Me too, but some of the cheap ones have backing plates that do not fit. Squeaky brakes drive me crazy and mine have been like that for years.

                          Yep, I've run into some cheap pads that required some filing of the metal slots to get them to fit properly without binding.

                            Yep, it's cool to build your own sometimes. I used some shims from an old Volvo I believe it was. They are rectangular and nice SS with the right thickness.

                            With a vice and a hammer, you can make some nice sharp 90 deg. bends.
