    shifter sticking

It doesn't do it all the time. It only happens when going from 3rd to 2nd and the shifter sticks in the down possition so it's inbetween gears. You have to pull up on the shifter very hard to get it back in gear, 3rd. Shift down again and it goes into 2nd. Do you think it's related to the pins under the left side cover or the shifter drum/forks.

I had a similar problem with the shifter sticking. What it turned out to be is the one of the two shifter stops on the shift pawl was worn down causing the drum to rotate too far. It could also be the pins and/or the starfish washer is bent on the shift drum.

All them "bones" are connected, pull the cover and it might be the spring right inside the cover, or at worst a bent fork.

The star washer has one of the raised up fingers bent back in a non working postion. The only new one I found was $47 plus shipping on Ebay. Yikes. I bought a used shift drum that has the star washer in good shape for $14 shipped. I replaced it several years ago. Makes me wonder if I have something else going on. I will drive it and see how it goes.
