Put the throttle lock on, get the water hose out and spray the bike from a distance. See if you will be able to ride home in the rain. I had three bikes with the same ignition fault. I fixed mine, but there maybe three locations on the bike for this issue. Please do your own research.

Age makes the exact location different on each bike. I know one is the lead wires for the spark plugs, Cover the lights on the bike, and start it in a dark garage. Look around the head for sparks between the high tension wires and any frame/engine metal.Ray Matteis

Hey, I did say "please." One issue is the neutral switch possibly grounding out near the shifting arm. One other is a possible short in the sheath holding ignition wiring on the left side of the frame. One is problems with low voltage wiring in close proximity of high voltage wiring, thie connectors are behind the fuse panel I think. That is the mod I mostly used. And yes, it was long ago and I would have to research it again to tell you correctly.Skids (Sid Hansen)
