I don't know much about the fixes, but if it is a split the case deal, that intimidates me. I will make sure I am deliberately shifting this season!

Transmission work is not necessarily a "split the case deal". 2nd gear fix successfully done by myself and other members of this forum by flipping the bike and accessing via the oil pan. Driving nice is probably a good plan A.
