    Like Honda, a lot of the parts will interchange. Unlike Honda, there are a few "one year only" models that have just a few parts that only work for that year.
    Also, back in the late '70's early 870's, R&C Engineering drag raced an XS1100 all season without EVER working on the STOCK crank!

      Well the '79 standard seat doesn't exactly fit on the '79 special. It fouls against the TCU. Andreas has one for sale, but it's $380 shipped which is just too much for a seat. Reckon I'm gonna try to find a way to move the TCU and adapt this seat to fit my bike.

        One time, I drilled a 1" hole in the toolbox to fit the harness thru. Then cut the plastic mounting bolt brackets off of the TCI and stuff it inside the tool box. Just one way of relocating. Works great.
