Wow, that's surprising that bolt would be that tight, it's not even that large of a bolt. Glad it came out in one piece. That is some pretty good thread locker they used back in the day. You'd be surprised what a set of risers can do. Buckhorn bars work better for some than others, it's a matter of where your wrist sits in relation to the angle of the grips. In my case my standard bars have the proper angle, buckhorns just plain hurt in only 1/2 hour.1980 XS1100G

My Venturer had risers on the standard bars when I bought it, but I removed them.
For me, when the buckhorns are set low so they barely clear the tank, the grips are near me so I'm sitting upright, and the angle of the grips is just like shaking hands.
