  • Need a few things. Best source for parts?

I hope this is the right place for this. Anyway, I know there are a lot of online sources for parts, but I'm leery of ending up with counterfeit/knockoffs. What's your most reliable/trustworthy source for basic stuff, like tires, plugs, etc? After that, where would you go for more XS11 specific things? Thanks in advance.

I don't do all that much online for basic parts. Tires, go to a local motorcycle shop. A few bucks more, but they can mount and balance and usually stand behind them. Spark plugs and oil, Napa or another good auto parts store. MikesXS is a good online source for parts, but they do carry some suspect parts as well. If you look through some of the repair threads, you can see who we have used, and who we avoid.

Actually, the list is very long. There are a lot of good parts out there and a lot of junk.
      Here’s a good link:
      https://www.xs650.com/threads/the-gr...-thread.51957/

It’s XS650, but much applies to the XS11. Late XS650s have BS34 carburetors.

Thanks. I use a local mechanic, but he doesn't stock parts and just advised me to get my tires online, etc online. None of the larger shops here will work on carbureted bikes - at all. Even the dealers who sell new japanese bikes won't touch my XL, so I feel lucky to find this guy. Anyway, just looking for the best source. I'll be putting some of it on myself, but not tires and such. Currently looking for some new carburetor manifold boots, and was told to be careful about Ebay because the counterfeits of these are very common. Ideas for sourcing that particular part?

I got mine at Parts n More over 10 years ago. They’re still going strong.

I always get my tires from chapmoto.com, they are always new fresh stock.

I usually get my OEM parts from Partzilla.com or Babbitsonline.com, whichever has it in stock. Tires I generally get on Revzilla, but I have a NoMar and do my own tire mounting/balancing.

Looks like I can get OEM carb joints on Ebay for about $25, NOS. Probably a better option than Chinese "unbranded," based on all I've heard. Those are like $20 for a set of 4... I assume you get what you pay for.

Marty is showing you who you can trust. Georgefix is the ONLY one on ebay I trust for parts, as he lets you know about them. $100 for a set of four is minimum for good carb boots.

Ebay is a good source for parts. It's a huge source for used parts. If you are looking for something in particular, you could post it here and I could help you.

Stick with the eBay seller Georgefix for fuel system related parts, he has a good reputation for selling good quality stuff on several different model repair forums. Last I looked he had Mikuni branded carb boots for $65.

LAB3 is right. I just picked these up from Georgefix's eBay store for $107.39 for a job I am working on.

Georgefix also has a set for $35 that he's claiming last 15 years, based on his reputation I'd be willing to try them.

Earlier this winter both he and this seller had these listed, touted as being "genuine Mikuni" $75 a set in this case.
