There is a thread on this subject. Do a search on "center stand" and you should find it.
As a refresher, hold the handlebar with the left hand, use the right foot to lower the stand to the ground, rock the bike to be shure BOTH sides of the stand are on the ground, and then step down HARD on the center stand with the right foot, and pull back and up with the right hand, witch should be holding the handle on the left side of the seat.

I have good luck holding handle bars with left hand and lifting up on the passenger foot peg with my right. I seem to get the best angle with my right hand on the passy peg. YMMV
I'm 170lbs. and grad bars with left hand, grab liggage rail with right, right foot on stand, lift and pll back at sme time lifting with right hand......goes up fairly easy.....just about my limit tho......positively sure the 81H tourer has gotten heavier in the lat 24yrs. though!

I've always just straightened the bars, grabbed the sissy bar with both hands then lift while pushing in the stand HARD with my left foot. It's worked every time, but that beast sure is heavy

There's a diet for everything else out there..........maybe one for the XS's too!

As heavy as the XS11 is, it's easier to get on the centerstand than my 650s or 400 are. I just straighten the bars, stand on the pedal with all my weight on my left foot and lift up on the rack, pops right up. I weigh 150 in my leathers soaking wet. Once you do it right you'll wonder why you had so much trouble before.

I always thought it was too heavy to try getting it on the centerstand until I read this thread. The trick is stepping on the center stand while you pull back on the bars and give a lift with the other hand. It rolls right up on the stand really easy.
