Fred's "Flying Pumpkin" is one all of us old timers know! I did work on a Special with a sidecar about 15 years ago for someone. He was in Sunnyvale, CA for a few months, wanted to ride, but it had been parked for a little too long. I did get it running for him, I think. I'm getting too old to remember.

I have finished adding a Terraplane to a 1978 XS1100. It is really stiff to turn. Does anyone have plans to make a leading link suspension ?

Do a search on this site and you can find a few different things people have done. IIRC there was something about using the Special triple tree, as it was for a leading axle. that gives a better front end geometry for a sidecar.

Hi Alt, welcome aboard. It sounds like your alignment could be off. Your sidecar tire axle should be 10 inches in front of the XS11 rear axle. The bike has to have about 1/2" toe in measured with straight edge metal (with compensation for the thinner front tire) or a laser set up. Also the bike needs to lean out about 1° when you sit on it.

I have set mine up correctly and it steers very well and tracks straight with the standard forks.
