I know what you're thinking "How the heck is THAT going to work?" but it does! Granted, you probably don't want to try this on a pristine surface but if you're like me and prefer the "Honest Survivor" look then it does a good job, especially on pipes.
Cleaning rust with aluminum foil

Some folks like to dip the foil in Coca Cola because the phosphoric acid helps to remove the rust and leaves a phosphate barrier.
I tried it on an exhaust system. It worked for me, but it didn't seem like a miracle.-Mike

I wouldn't call it a miracle either, the cheapo Turtle Wax chrome cleaner works just as well but foil will often flake off and get into pitted areas making it look a bit better when done.1980 XS1100G
