    If it's been sitting, but the engine turns over, pull the spark plugs and put a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil into each hole and let it set for 2 or 3 days. Change ALL the fluids in the bike! Brake, oil/filter, middle and final drive oil. The turn it over with a good battery to see what the starting compression is. You may have to work the clutch a bit to get it "unstuck", as the plates may not want to release. The '79 Special IS a one year only bike for body parts, Seat, side covers. Most other parts will interchange with very little work.

      That’s what my plan will be. I always do those maintenance jobs before even trying to get them running. Thanks for the advice.

        Don’t forget to change the brake fluid and the fork oil. Dirty fork oil is an abrasive.
