Hello all. Just joined this forum as I am in the process of reviving a 1978 xs1100. Just wanted to show off a stainless dust cover I machined out of a grill broiler pan.

Nice work- you even have all the mounting holes, even though the factory only used half of them.
Should look nice on your bike.-Mike

That looks comfy. My 42 year old seat is in perfect condition with the exception of the fact that it is 42 years old, the vynal is stiff and the foam is unsupportive. It's like riding on a cheese grater. I would be all in on a fresh seat but people want too much for a rusty old pan and I don't want to refurbish a perfectly good looking original. I guess I will use the bead cover on mine until it cracks then fix it properly.1979 XS1100 Special
