  • Rear wheel dust cover

Hello all. Just joined this forum as I am in the process of reviving a 1978 xs1100. Just wanted to show off a stainless dust cover I machined out of a grill broiler pan.

      No it doesn't.
1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
      1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
      1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
      1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
      1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

Looks like you have some heavy duty equipment to tinker with. Cool custom touch.

Nice work- you even have all the mounting holes, even though the factory only used half of them.

Should look nice on your bike.

I couldn't locate a replacement and found this grill broiler pan that looked pretty close. Only issue is I don't have the self center lip on the inside. Might try to come up with something if it bugs me to much.

I'll put up some pics of it on the wheel/bike when the bike comes back. Bike is currently in OK getting put back together.

Had the seat recovered by Ned's in Riverside, Iowa. I think it looks awesome. They had to do a little foam work. Cost $250

That looks comfy. My 42 year old seat is in perfect condition with the exception of the fact that it is 42 years old, the vynal is stiff and the foam is unsupportive. It's like riding on a cheese grater. I would be all in on a fresh seat but people want too much for a rusty old pan and I don't want to refurbish a perfectly good looking original. I guess I will use the bead cover on mine until it cracks then fix it properly.
