Last year I paid Chris using PayPal - and he eventually did refund my money (also using paypal) I went to the Yamaha dealer and ordered some Russel Banjo adapters (4 total) and two lines witht their standard screw-down fittings. (OH - and a pack of crush washers !!)
    .
I reutilized the bajo-bolt from the lower side of the splitter up on the master cylinder and mounted two of the adapters there. Then, I mounted one adapter to each brake cylinder and screwed down the lines.
    .
Topped everything up with fluid, and, it took about 2 weeks to get the air to rise up through the master cylinder. (it wasn't rideable for 3 days while I f*cked with it) then - I decided to leave it alone except to check it every evening when I got home from work. Every day the handle was a little firmer.... until one day when I figured it was safe to try riding it.
    .
Sure is nice now! I drag the front tire pretty regularly !!!

      BRAIDED LINES!

If someone would send me their "junk" front brake lines! I dont wanna take mine off as they are..ok for now...I can( I hope, make some up.. just gotta see the threads and flare angle) ..We used braided on the racecar all the time and putting the fittings together is easy...(after ya done it a couple times)
i dont wanna step on Chris's toes but stopping is important too!

I put a note in the tip for the stainless lines the Chris has not been filling these orders and that anyone interested should contact Chris directly and verify that he will make them before sending any money. Not sure why he is not filling orders, but I figured I would give a heads up to potential buyers.

BUT in my experience, I made two different orders from Chris and both were filled OK, lines were of excellent quality....I have met Chris at several different rallys and he is a great guy. But I would probably not send him any money til I received the lines after reading about the problems you guys are having with orders.

Stuff happens, mistakes are made, things get lost, $70 is not going to change anyones lifestyle (I hope), all you can do is let people know you feel cheated and if Chris chooses not to repond or make it right than I am sure there is a problem. It stinks because now I have to figure something else out on my next XS.

If one of you guys who made your own SS lines, would write up a tech tip with specific parts, I will take out Chris's info and replace it with that, just e-mail it or PM it to me and I will post it for you.

          Thanks

                    Re: BRAIDED LINES!

If you have the original lines on your bike - they are most certainly *NOT* ok. Hold one in your hand while squeezing the brake lever .... fell the swelling????

Mine were soo bad I'd grab a handful of brake and the bike would nose-dive....then after a couple seconds... the nose would start to rise as the brake action tapered off.

It got scary when I'd roll up to an intersection with the lever fully engaged, and the rate of deceleration also slowing.................

The Flare angle is 35 degrees (give -or- take) at both ends. The 10mm banjo fitting adapter is what converts from the threaded lines to the cylinders.

I decided to use two (stacked) Banjo adapters on the Master Cylinder, and then run directly to each wheel cylinder. I don't think the splitter unit has a safety plunger in it (to salvage braking on one side of the wheel) though it might be best (but certainly more expensive) to replace the lines with 3 stock equivalents.

I've posted some current Russell part numbers for front brake lines here and have ordered said parts this afternoon - by Sunday or Wednesday by latest, I should be able to say for sure if those parts are correct.
