Sounds like the problem could be a dry middle-drive unit. Strom has just discovered this problem in his ride too - look at this thread

    Ouch!

i checked it out and i could find nothing , so i changed the hypoid in the middle and final and tried it out and it seemed fine i believe my next step will be to pull the oil pan and see if i may have chipped a gear and it is down in there

This is good news, I think. At least your middle and final drives sound like they're okay.

Another thing that can cause rear wheel lock-up is the rear brake, but I would think that would have been obvious. It is more likely for the rear brake, or one of the fronts for that matter, to drag and get severely hot rather than grab on all at once and lock up the wheel.

Before you drop the oil pan, pick up a gasket or have some gasket material on hand. The pan is easy enmough to remove, but you will probalby tear the gasket doing it.

I've heard of clutches causing the back wheel to lock up. But that's only been after the plates had sat for a while without being immersed in oil. If this is your case, then perhaps the friction plates are grabbing intermittently? I'm probably way off base, but its something else to wrap your mind around...
