    Bike prices

First 82XJ paid $100, clean adjust carbs, brake pedal froze in frame, put on new tires, sat for 10 years. Guy just wanted to get it out of garage, taking up too much room. Daily Ride.
79F paid $25, sat in guys back yard for 8/10 years complete, no title. Parts bike.
78E paid $65, guy was moving and could not take it with him, bad TCI unit, had gas tank apart, needs carb kits, rebuilding it for son.
82XJ gave to me rough shape been knocked over and broke turn signals and brake light, motor/trans bad corrosion, gas tank dented, taking up space in girlfriends garage tires flat, parts bike for me and other son, he bought 82XJ from this guy also for $400, this guy is on this site.
80SG paid $200 for this bike full dresser, needs repainted and put back on fairing and bags, and new seat cover, fixing up to be spare Daily Ride.
All of these bikes were found within 25miles of my house, also guy i know told me his inlaws have one in garage that is in an estate sale that they want to get rid of, all he knows is that it is a Yamaha 1100 and has been sitting for 10/15 years, he will let me know when they get ready to sell it. Hope it is a 81 model so that i will have one of each year.
    Thanks Tom

I paid 50 bucks for my XS1100 SF knowing it needed to be rewired and he said the timing was off. But was only the coil pickup and runs mint now.

I was given a 1979 special. The lad even trailered it to my house for free. The engine is in pretty good shape on the inside :-)

              best deal

I paid $650 two years ago for my 81 special. Needed nothing at the time but tires with 8000 on the odometer. He was the original owner and only rode once a week to keep things working.

My first one I traded an old chevy truck that had sat for 20 years at my uncles. The bike I got out of that also had sat for about 7 years and was rough but I went through carbs ,brakes, and some electrical and it ran great. It had over 60,000 on the clock.Sold it a few years back ,then regretted selling it.Iknew I would find another one.
The one I have now i got from an estate sale last fall for $400
with 588 miles on it.The guy bought it brand new and apparently
scared himself on it.It hadn't been licensed since 1983.I went through the carbs(which had been drained before the hiatus. But the tank had 20 year old gas in it.The tires were like brand new!But were hard,so I put new tires on.This bike rides like new.I am still cleaning the aluminum up but have put about a 1000 miles on it in the last 2 months.I hope to have this one for a long long time. Money well spent.

Tarzan, I'd love to find a super low mileage Eleven at an estate sale...that's almost as good as finding a (insert classic car here) under a tarp in a barn!!!

As for my treasure, I paid $650 for my '79 Special with 30k miles. It ran ok but I took the whole thing apart and redid it my way. I've got about $2800 in it now and no one believe's it's a 30 year old Yamaha!
