  • Replacement Petcock gasket

I replaced my petcock gaskets without going through the dealer...this is how!

The dealer wanted 10-12 dollars for that little rubber gasket that goes in the petcock.

The local hardware store wanted .39 cents for a neoprene rubber fender washer.

I purchased several of these fender washers and experimented....

If your old gasket is somewhat intact, you can use it for a size template, if not, a US quarter is near the same size.

I used a leather punch to punch the holes at 12, 3, 6 and 9 oclock on the new gasket.

press the new gasket into the petcock and check the fit, carefully trim with the leather punch or and x-acto knife.....

    re-assemble....

total cost...under a dollar (US) for gaskets that Yamaha wanted 10-12 dollars each and required a two week order time on...total time invested...about an hour.....

    Good Luck and have fun!
