Yes, mine do rub on the corners of the letters. (Hey!! I got a great deal on the tires mounted, balanced and installed!!) They rub at the corners mainly, and since I have bags on the bike, I only really notice it when cleaning the tires.

    (Disclaimer: I also wear tri-focals!)

Oops my mistake in my previous post - when you put a 140 RWL on a Special it will rub the white off.

I run a Dunlop K491 Elite G/T MU90B16 RWL on my 79 SF. Both the RWL and part of sidewall had rubbed when I first installed the tire because I forgot about the difference in width and to shim to offset the tire thickness verses the MT90B16 tires. My previous rear tire was the MT90B16 RWL plenty of room between shaft and tire with no rubbing of the RWL. I changed to the MU90B16 for the extra 100 # max weight load and the hirer speed rating plus a WIDER tire by .42".

What's this about shimming the rear wheel to offset it? Where? Under the clutch hub? Washers on the bolts? Will the bike track straight if the rear wheel is offset 1/4"?
