Nope, the R1 front end will not bolt on the XS frame. The top steering bearing on the XS's is too small.

Because of the steering head issue and widening the rear swingarm and shaft drive for a bigger tire, I have decided a custom frame is the way to go. Haven't start on that yet.

Denny, any update on the front end/swingarm mods?

if you had a machine shop at your disposal could you make the r1 front end fit the stock xs frame?

Dan, I think the problem is the center post on the front end is a larger diameter than the steering head on the XS. You would need to cut and weld a new head stock on the frame. The other way would be to weld a new post on the triple clamp, and fit it to the XS frame.

BTW auxtian, your bike is sharp!

You must be thinking along the same lines as me with the forks, huh?

My forks are "sticky" and it sucks. I'd love to have some new hardware up front.

Any front end, 50mm solid ones or 45mm and/or upsidedown. Would bolt on easy. 4 - piston calipers and floating wavy discs and 17inch front preferably.
