Ok...I think all 9 pin wiring harnesses are color coded same. I think it is a standardized wiring schematic much like trailer lights on light trucks and passenger cars.

If so you can go here and see how it wired.

For some reason I want to recall that Pacifico was either a Vetter design or a Vetter "rip-off". In any case the wiring would be same.

it seems we have the same fairing. I got a great booklet from Pat Kelly on Yamaha fairings, but it was a bit different than the Pacifico. I have the drawings I did for mine here in the shop if you want to call and we can "compare notes". I hooked mine up about 3 months ago and everything works except the 'running lights'...

I think the problem with the running lights is that the Specials don't have the front turnsignals as running lights. You'll have to find a wire (lt blue inside the headlight bucket?) that is hot with the key on. My MN Special had anither set of turnlamps on the highway pegs that were used as running lights.

My Pacifico wiring is as follows:
9 pin to bike,
brown to dark brown (r) turn
green to green green (l) turn
med blue to med blue running lights
red/white to red battery
red to brown insturment hot
lt blue to lt blue insturment
black/white to (opt oil temp and unit)
orange to (extra hot, radio etc)

Thanks you guys - this will help a lot. The PO was a really nice guy, but I am realizing, not much of a mechanic and definitely not an electrician. I'm not much of a mech/elec either, but in addition to being a greasemonkey I am an editor by trade and, well, a little more detail oriented...

In addition to adding xtra lights that don't seem to work too consistently, he also put in a fail-safe switch so you can turn on the ignition w/o they key and start the bike. (Can't say the feature really appeals to my suspicious nature.) I don't think the charging system is engaged if you ride the bike like this - first time i rode the bike and wasn't thinking, just saw the green nuetral light and fired her up, couple hundred down the road and a night in a motel 6 later the battery was dead...

Reason I bring all this up is that I'm expecting to run into some tomfoolery if not downright skulduggery in the electrical wiring, ignition and charging system.

Lots to do, lots to do. If only i didn't have a day job...

Was hoping to post a photo of the fairing but don't have access to a camera yet. Too bad Craftsman doesn't make those too.

The XS is an '80 SG (Special), fairing is a Pacifico - 'can't remember the 'model'... 'brought the '57 F100 in today - we're suppose to have thundershowers today - even WITH a fairing that's not "fun"...

Are those extra brackets attaching to the fairing below the compartments? Or cupholders?

Actually it looks a lot like this one on eBay, which is being advertised as Vetter:

I am still confused - Pacifigo or Vetter? I have looked all over the Vetter website and am still not certain.

Is there any reference for Pacifigo fairings?

The one on Rons bike and the one on Ebay are both Pacifico's
The one I have for sale is like Rons. They mount the same just detail features are different.

I really like the look of the lowers on your '80SG. I have a pair of the flat square looking Yamaha lowers which were advertised as being for Vetter (whatever...) Are lowers at all interchangeable between Pac and Vet?

Still not sure what I'm gonna do with the one I took off last night. The Plastic Welder kits seem to have come down a little in price ($30), but I recall that you said the Pacifigo's are a mixture of both ABS and PVC - so maybe replacement is the way to go...

I have a VetterSound Radio/CB which is ultimately my dream to go touring with (just one live response would be worth it - well, assuming it's not a cop...

The sound pods are pretty universal? I've seen some from BMW's which look a little odd, but any idea about radio compatability. Ultimately I guess I am mostly interested in functionality more than form, but I do like the lines on the Pacifigos (round head/turnl lights)

Did I mention that I grew up on a small island in the middle of a huge ocean? Just travelling for more than two hours in any direction is still a thrill in and of itself...

I had an AM/FM/CD Player mounted on my bike with 6" speakers.

Problems I had were:
-Too much bounce for CD to work properly
-Current draw for the radio to work. It would cut out when I used my turnsignals.

Now I use a pocket AM/FM or a personal CD player in the tankbag and earbuds in the helmet when I want tunes.
As for a CB, I have one but no one speaking english anymore that I can find. It's all Mexican or Arabic, at least around here.

Patrick, the lowers are not flat on mine - I have a feeling you'll see them soon.
From looking at others and these I don't think they'd be interchangable - because of the brackets/bolt pattern.

YOUR garage is like my photo?? I was in the middle of rearranging everything (Honey-do's)...

The *extra brackets* were put there by the PO - cup holders. I sure as hell wouldn't put my soda or water there - 'don't think it would STAY there too long - at least at the speeds I drive

yeah, the PO had one on mine when I bought it. removing it was the first 'modifcation' I made.

Likewise - I am still in the middle of movind so my garage has a bunch of piles lining the side - no counter/shelves or such yet. Yet!
