      Have been reading all the threads on the gear fix and looks like some excellent info.My 80 G has 42000 on it and havent had a problem yet, maybe a PO has allready fixed it hopefully. Will look at it to see. Im a retired machinist but have to fix the lathe before fixing the Yamaha.

        hardened

        Not to through a wrench in the works,butt, arent theese gears hardened? grinding on them May go past the hardened part of the gear? Just a ? i had mine undercut by a place called fast by gas,don't have an addy or www. thing for them. Cost was 200 american and they re-hardened the gears.
