Hello to all
This forum has been very beneficial to an older biker who has jumped back into motorcycling. Just purchased a 78' 1100 E. The pick-up coil wires are causing the bike to not start or run intermittantly. After moving the wires manually, the bike will then run. The bike has a new battery, plug wires are good, coils check out, new spark plugs. My first attempt is to do the wire splice as explained. The pick-up coil assembly can be oredered from my local Yamaha dealer. That is my back-up plan. Can someone explain the exact replacement technique for this part which may be necessary if all does not go well with the splice. The pick-up coil is the part that has the wires which I am going to attempt to splice? Thanks again for all the interesting information.
