Very interesting how partsandmore is adding more xs parts. This petcock is not vacuum actuated though as it is on the xs g. It has on/off/reserve. Plus you would need the adapter plate as well.

Also, from the looks, the screen is round and not oval like the original.
Owned by a pair of XS11's. An 80 Standard and a 79 Special.

I removed the OE petcocks and Octopus and installed Pingel valves with the adaptor plates.... it works real well.
I also used in-line filters and aside from remembering to shut off both petcocks when I shut down, there isn't a problem. (I haven't had any troubles the few times I forgot to shut off the petcocks either) . You have to open the holes in the tank where the old towers went into the tank, to allow room for the 3/8ths NPT thread to pass into the tank.

PS.... if you go this route don't use the pingel gaskets ... they are crap!

        ...

Yeah screen on partnmore doesnt fit G model. Bike bandit has one and merriam has emm. They want 25 a piece. I'm gonna stub pipes up 1/2 inch up from petcock to keep the crud out and go with inline filters. We will see how it works. And have no reserve, no big deal.

          Hi Griff,
no reserve is no big deal until the reserve idiot light quits and because you also forgot to zero the trip odometer last fill-up you end up pushing ~600lbs of scrap-iron to the nearest gas pump.
If you really don't want to ante-up for the proper gas screens think about a long & a short stub pipe in each petcock plus soldering up a gauze screen to go around 'em.

I ordered a set of new tank filters (net filters) at BikeBandit for my 1980 1100 LG, they where $10.48 each. Kinda pricy, but it was the only place I could find them.
