  • Tach and speedo both stop at fixed points...

The tachometer won't go above 4k and the speedometer won't go above 30mph. Any suggestions?

Swap gauges with known working ones, if they then work on the suspect bike, then you know it's the OEM gauges. If you get the same bad readings, then could be speedo gear, cable? Could be bad charging circuit?

I cheated and got the bike out on the freeway between offramps. The speedo did register 70mph but it gets up to it very slow. Perhaps a cable lube?

Tach still won't climb and stays at around 4k.

The both probably need to be cleaned and relubed. The problem is doing this without wiping out the ring and glass.
