So you all helped me with some wiring issues with the headlight. Getting my carbs singing that sweet throaty song again. But that was just scratching the surface of what I've been doing here getting this thing back in shape after years of neglect.
When I had it out riding two up with my very light lady I noticed the suspension was sacked and I was bottoming out over stuff I shouldn't. I mean I am used to a KLR lately but I never remember it being that bad before and I've had it loaded down with gear in the past that is probably about equal in weight to her. Also the front brakes where pulsating. So I decided on redoing the suspension and brakes.
I rebuilt the master brake cylinder. Wow was it dirty. Nasty. Took the front calipers off and removed the cylinder. Same thing. Also those clips that hold the brake pads in are really rusty, is there a place to get new ones? I have ordered caliper kits to replace the seals. And I ordered stainless lines from https://www.technafitstore.com/.
That is my first snag. They shorted me one line! I've emailed them today and waiting to hear back from them. They were supposed to send 4 lines. The three for front and the rear one, but they sent the rear one and two for the fronts.
I started my suspension today. I changed the fork oil and put the front Progressive Suspension springs in today. Then I went to do the back one's and read the instructions that I need a 0.25" travel limiter. Is that right? I checked and the wheel doesn't touch the fender when it's bottomed out with the shocks on it, although it does touch the blinker wires, but I could route them better. I looked all over and no one has the 0.25" travel limiters in stock... it's like they are discontinued... I emailed them to see where I can get them. Do you think I need it if it's not touching the fender when it's bottomed out?
Sorry if I rambled, had a little lubrication tonight, early Happy Father's day everyone.
