Stuck clutch

I started my 81 today and it runs great but the clutch seems to be stuck. When I click it into gear with the clutch all the way in the motor dies. I have tried rocking it in first gear with the clutch in and it wont free up.
The bike has sat for about 2 years

Put the bike on the side stand, remove the clutch cover, pull all the clutch plates out, clean them, and reverse procedure. I just got done doing that to a bike that has been sitting for about 10 years.

Could be your cable is not traveling fully inside the sheath since it has sat for two years. Or the linkage on the other end is not traveling fully.

If you can unhook the clutch cable at the lever put oil into the sheath let it soak, put some more in there and see if you can loosen it up.

Or remove the cable entirely so you can slide it back and forth while you add the oil.

Could be the clutch plates are froze because of mother time.

Those are things that come to mind.

Stuck

Warm the bike up. Keep rocking it until it frees up. Not uncommon for this to occur.

Good idea, let the oil get up to temperature and heat may be your friend.

I don't know if this would work... Put it up on the center stand, point it in a direction it can roll forward, click it up into 3rd 4th or 5th gear pop it off the center stand with you in the saddle and see if the forward momentum in a higher gear will help you too.

Get on the bike ready to ride, put in first gear. Turn on the ignition and push the starter button. When you start moving and the engine starts, it should quickly free up.

I am going to pull the cover and check the plates
I dont want to do any damage by rocking it

I did ride it around my neighborhood and it seems to be fixed.
I guess thats what I get for letting it sit for so long

Hey look on the bright side, the bike has now told you it wants you to ride it more often! Nothing like being more regular with that.
