Nuteral light switch

My nuteral light isn't working. When I touch the wire on the sending unit to ground it works. Any ideas?

There is a plunger in the switch that rides on the shift drum, or shift cam. I have never had one apart, but an educated guess would be that the plunger makes contact with the contacts in the switch, and makes a ground for the light to come on. It's possible that somehow the plunger isn't making contact inside the switch. Remove it, and check the continuity through it with the plunger in both positions.

I drained the oil, removed the switch and sprayed it real good with contact clean. Tapped it a few times and it works now..thanks
