Shinko's are cheap..the most I have gotten out of a rear 712 was 4000 miles...but like I said they're cheap..ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances...Personally I will never buy another Shinko for anything..but some people love 'em...YMMV1980 XS650G Special-Two

Tire Type
There are 2 types of tire ratings - V & H. H will get many more miles than a V. 2000 miles sounds like the V rated tire.1981 XS1100H Venturer

Shinkos are OK on the front, that's what I run on front, but on the rear you just about always have to change them every oil change.Greg

Okay, I’m a sucker for punishment, just ordered a Shinko 230 touring, I don’t know why I do things sometimes, just for curiosity I suppose. At least I’ll get to keep an eye on those final drive splines in a regular basis81 Special

They have a soft grippy compound that doesn't wear well but sticks pretty good. I've tried others on front but I keep coming back to the 712 because I like the way it handles.
On the rear I feel the same way about the Dunlop Elite3. Harder compound that wears well (I get 8 - 12K from one) and grips well in the rear.Greg

I just put Michelin Pilot Activs on the Yammy, we'll see how they perform. But, I just got 10k on a Shinko Raven 009 on my Triumph. Front is still 50%.1979 XS1100F

BA80 said:Well, you gotta have horsepower to wear out a rear.
I did use the shinko's on my Connie, and got about 7K out of them. The handling went south after about 4K though...Ray Matteis
