I have a question with regard to the petcock on my XS 1100 Special and the 4 hoses that connect to them.
If anyone has removed the tank, I am sure you know its a bitch to pull off.
I removed them in the past and no problem.
Today, I removed 3 of those hoses and they were hard to get off but I was patient, but on the 4th one (the last one) I pulled out the entire brass tubing that's connected to the pop metal completely off the left hand side petcock. At first I thought I broke it off, but it appears to have been pressed on from the factory. The brass tubing is straight and no obvious damage to the pop metal on the petcock. So I used a 2X4 and rubber mallet and lightly tapped the brass tubing back in and it appears to be good and tight.
Should I replace the entire left side petcock, if even available? or do you think I'll be okay? (about possible leak?)
I did try to remove the fuel petcocks with a large Phillips screw driver and oh man, I could not budge them at all. Must one use an impact driver to take these off?
Thanks for any replies.
