Nice, did you paint the engine black? You seat is long but not as wide as mine.

If I said a Mack truck will fit on your bike, I'd be telling the truth.

Kurt on here (I don't remember his handle) modified a Sportster seat to fit on an '81 Special. I admit he's talented, and he made that seat look like it was made for the Yamaha.

                  Is this bike a 1979?

If it is, how do you think he got this grab bar bolted up?

Too bad the saddle-bag is mounted.

This bike is a 1980 XS1100SG. He did "A lot of work" not even knowing what it was.

Are you sure that grab bar is from a 1100? I only ask this as Ive seen a SF with seat, grab bar etc from a SG fitted. Could your grab bar be from a xs850 special?

                          Grab Bar

Wrong grab bar for the year model. Leaving this one off would be the right thing to do.

If you're referring to mine (grab-bar) I bought it of ebay and was told it came off a 1979 and trusted him. If your familiar with cars, a lot of camaro parts and firebird parts were interchangeable.

Thanks for all the links guys.

Could it have been titled as a 1979 somehow as a rebuild or later sold in 1979 by yamaha?

Some states registered the bikes year model as when it sold, NOT the manufacture stated year model. I've seen that happen a few times. If he went off the reg, that's all he knows. You would need to know the difference in the serial numbers to keep it strait.
