  • Anyone running a Classic/Vintage style tire?

I'm looking for new tires for the XS1100SF. I was just wondering if anyone has used a classic/vintage style tire on there bike. An example I was looking at are the Continental RB2/K112 or Dunlop K70. Any tires out there in that style that would fit the XS1100SF? Thanks.

You can get Bridgestone S11 Spitfire in your size with raised white letters, just like back in the day. It's a pretty decent tire as well.

I saw those as I was searching, they're not bad. Are there any others out there along the lines that I mentioned that will fit the 79 SF?

        Dunlop K491

I've been running these since the early 80's. I love 'em.

You may be looking for Conti Twins.

OEM was a Yokahama or Dunlop similar to K627 that I believe is NLA.

+1 for the Conti Twins! They were the top tire to run in the early 80's with Metzlers being a second. Conti Twins(RB2&K112) adhesion was excellent wet or dry. Their longgivity was down a bit as it was a trade-off. I used to run these on my Venturer during the early 80's. Nowadays, the only rear tire size available is for the 16" Specials. My Venturer with the 17" rear runs the Conti-Go's now. A nice high profile and section width that comes close to matching the ole' day reccomended conventional 4:50x17...and same goes for front. Bike handling is also exceptional like it originally was when new. I believe Mack here on site could also verify this.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

I like the look of the Continental Twins. It seems though that they only offer the front tire in size 3.25x19 and the size for my bike 1979 xs1100sf is 3.50x19. I wonder if that would be an issue?

The 3.25x19 will fit. It will also turn in faster than the larger tire. You don't really have an option here.

The Dunlop K70 is available in 3.50x19 front, but no matching rear tire in your size.
