it's more than a sound, I can feel the bike lugging and clicking when I am coming to a stop in first gear. what is that all about?

    Pull the clutch handle in.....

    Just being me.

Where is it coming from? Engine, front wheel? Rear wheel? Radio?

Likely just slack in the drive-train, or carbs should be synced, or refer to BA80's post #2.

                Shming,
                no /yes / what the hell is a u-joint?

ill take a video of the issue. to me its clutch /transmission. what problems could develop if the oil level is too low? like i said in another thread, i cant see the oil level in my glass and back when i had an oil leak i simply topped up what i thought i lost in oil to keep it from going too low

                  Blank Slate,
I thik you should , while ion the side stand, pull the clutch cover and see if the clutch assembly is all tight and not rubbing the inside of the cover. And clean the glass viewing port. Some clean oil on a rag will most likely remove the dirt.
U joints are in the drive shaft. one under the rubber bellows. be careful pushing it out of the way as the rubber is brittle? or atleast easily damaged after all these years.

What about coming to a stop in 2nd?
                    In 2nd with motor off?
                    In 1st with motor off?
                    In neutral with motor running?
                    In neutral with motor off?

Need to isolate the problem a bit more. Heck, even to a stop in 3rd gear clutch in. What's happening. More info would help. +1 on maybe U-joint or Clutch or even something else. Sound coming from engine area left or right in front of rider or maybe middle drive below you. So nothing buck or click while in acceleration mode? Bike coasts fine in neutral at 10 mph with motor off, no noises then or while coming to a stop?

since i cant take a video while im riding, i have a better description of this "clicking noise". it's less a clicking noise than it is a feeling that the bike is going to stall when i slow to a stop, but it doesnt.

anyone know what im talking about?

Try one thing for me. As you come to a stop, from about 30, put the bike in neutral, clutch out, and use just the front brakes. If you want, kill the engine so you can hear the noise easier. Move your head left and right to see what side the noise is coming from. Right side is clutch, Left side is probably U-joint.
U-joint IS a replacement part that is easy to find! I'm on holiday, so I don't have the part number handy but it is used in Toyota and Nissan cars.

                              Valves

could be he's hearing the valves. I re-shimmed them to the upper limits so it should be noisy. Without the wind they may seem louder. Do what Ray suggested Pablo in an empty parking lot and leave your helmet off so you can hear better.
